Toshiba has announced that it will be releasing the first ever smartbook the AC100 by the third quarter of 2010. The AC100 smartbook will be the first to have Android 2.1 OS. This smartbook is powered by NVIDIA Tegra 250 chipset that runs at 1GHz.

The AC100 smartbook resembles a standard size netbook but in actual weighs much lighter. Other than the Android 2.1 OS, this AC100 Tegra smartbook is loaded with Opera web browser, document applications, email client that can handle IMAP-POP3 etc. Unfortunately for Toshiba fans, this will be releasing in the Japanese market only with a price ranging from $400 to $550. The AC100 Tegra powered smartbook has an 8-hour battery that can go as far as 7 days in stand-by mode. For a price tag that equals a decent configuration netbook, the Toshiba AC100 Tegra powered netbook might find it difficult to gain popularity as well as appreciation.
