LG has just announced that it will be unveiling world’s slimmest smartphone, the LG Optimus Black with NOVA display measuring only 9.2mm in thickness. LG Optimus Black is not only the slimmest smartphone but it also is a lot lighter than many other smartphones out there. It only weighs 109g. With up to 700 nits of brightness, LG claims LG Optimus Black to be the brightest, clearest and most readable smartphone to be introduced to date.

LG states in their press release that the NOVA technology used in LG Optimus Black will enable users to maintain visibility in both indoors and outdoors. These displays are also more energy efficient and will drain less battery juice by consuming up to 50% less power. The new LG Optimus Black smartphone is an Android powered smartphone with Android 2.2 (Froyo) out of the box OS and is also capable of upgrading to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). According to LG, this new LG smartphone is the first to feature a 2.0 MP front facing camera for making video calls.

According to LG press release, the LG Optimus Black Smartphone with NOVA display will be available in Q1 2011. There is still no word on price of this phone.
