iBuyPower has just released its own Steam Machine prototype and price which will be first launch at the CES 2014. According to the company statement the design size of the Steam Machine falls between Microsoft’s XBox One and Playstation 4 while the price matches with the XBox One i.e. $499.
The iBuyPower Steam Machine will feature:
- Multi-core AMD CPU
- Discrete AMD Radeon R9 270 GPU
- 500GB hard drive
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity
iBuyPower Steam Machine will come with a smart device – the Valve’s Steam Controller as a package deal. The price of the machine feels cheap if you look at the hardware because only the GPU costs around $180 and even though it comes with a pretty smart controller.
The only point to note is that will the device bring a new revolution in the gaming world? Because iBuyPower Steam Machine is not built to support Windows OS it only works for Valve’s Linux-based SteamOS. Since the device will up in the next year 2014 when major game developers will launch Linux based triple-A game titles that will run natively on SteamOS.
