Sharp tablets are already available in the Japanese market by the name Galapagos. These are Android based tablets and are available in two different sizes, 5.5 inch and 10.8 inch. It has been found today that Sharp is planning to release these two tablets in US market in 2011. Other than the US market, Sharp also plans to capture markets of China, India, Brazil and other regions as well. Some features of the Sharp Galapagos Android tablets are listed below.
It is stated that the 5.5” and 10.8” Galapagos tablets will be used best for reading ebooks and will also have 3G support along with Wi-Fi. Unfortunately there is no 3G support in Japanese version of these two tablets. It looks like Sharp Galapagos tablets outside Japan might be given access to e-book stores that are yet to be created.
Exact availability of Sharp Galapagos Android tablets is not known but currently Japanese buyers are paying $476 for the 5.5 inch Android tablet and $714 for the 10.8 inch Android tablet which unlike the smaller tablet also has an 8GB SDHC memory card.
