OCZ Technology, who specializes in making high speed memory drives such as their previous OCZ Onyx 2 SATA II SSD, has just unveiled its latest creation, the OCZ RevoDrive X2 PCI-Express SSD with typical seek times of 0.1 ms and sequential data reading speeds of up to 730MB/s. These new OCZ solid state drives (SSD) have shock resistance abilities of up to 1500g which is more than enough for desktop environment.
The new OCZ RevoDrive X2 PCI-Express SSD has of course PCI-Express interface and the good thing about these is that they can also be used as boot drives. The SSD itself measures 181.07(L) x 21.59(W) x 125.08(H) mm. It has an operating temperature range of 0ºC to 70ºC. It only consumes 8 Watts when in use and 3 Watts when idle. The OCZ RevoDrive X2 PCI-Express SSD has write speeds of up to 690MB/s.
These new PCI Express SSDs will be compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 etc. The new OCZ RevoDrive X2 PCI-Express SSD series will be available in 100GB and 960GB versions, all backed by 3-year manufacturer warranty. No information on price and availability was found at the time of writing.
