OCZ has recently shown a sign of its presence in the computer world with the introduction of Intrepid 3000 SSDs. These are a new line of enterprise SSDs, the Intrepid 3600 and 3800. These SSDs, use regular consumer-grade MLC (i.e. cMLC), while the 3800 utilizes more durable eMLC NAND. The Intrepid 3000 series is a full-in house developed enterprise SSDs because the firmware has been developed by OCZ from a scratch.

The Intrepid 3000 is a 2.5” SATA 6Gbps device with capacities available in 100GB, 200GB, 400GB and 800GB sizes for both the series. Whereas they are built with the following features:

  • Marvell 88SS9187 controller
  • MTBF of 2.0 million hours
  • 256-bit AES-compliant
  • Read/Write Speed: 510/300 MB/s (100GB), 540/440 MB/s (200GB), 540/490 MB/s (400GB) and 540/485 MB/s (800GB)

There is still no news about the price and availability but according to the expectants Intrepid 3600 will be released in the first quarter of 2014. These drives are out and shipping well via Amazon (see details).
