OCZ Technology has just launched its new version of SSD, the Onyx 2 Series SATA II 2.5” Solid State Drive (SSD). The new OCZ Onyx 2 has an improved seek time of under 0.1ms and has a very slim 2.5” design. It measures 99.8 x 69.63 x 9.3 mm and only weighs 81 g.

The OCZ Onyx 2 SATA II SSD has an operating temperature range of 0-70 degree centigrade and is shock resistant up to 1500G. The SSD supports RAID, TRIM and comes with a 2-year warranty. It has a maximum read speed of up to 275MB/s and a maximum write speed of up to 265MB/s.
The Onyx 2 SATA II solid state drive (SSD) comes in 120GB and 240GB versions. Its mean time between failures (MTBF) is 1.5 million hours. Like other similar SSDs, the Onyx 2 SATA II also has low power consumption at 1000mW and only 375mW when idle. No information on pricing was available at the time of writing.

With the price of all ssds dropping, this may not be the best choice, however it is helping to bring the price of ssds down.
