LaCie has just unveiled its smallest and super fast USB 3.0 solid state drive, the LaCie FastKey. Just like we were fooled by its appearance, the LaCie FastKey USB 3.0 SSD resembles a USB flash drive and is capable of data transfer speeds as high as 260MB/s and with USB 3.0 interface it can go up to 600MB/s. The LaCie USB 3.0 SSD also features an ultra-secure AES 256-bit encryption.
The LaCie FastKey USB 3.0 SSD has DRAM cache and comes in stylish metal casing that is sturdy enough to withstand rough handling. Although not as rigid as the LaCie XtremKey flash drive but since it is a high capacity solid state drive, we have a feeling that additional sturdiness will not be a major requirement from consumers. The LaCie FastKey USB 3.0 SSD measures 27x104x9 mm and only weighs 33g. The drive is compatible with both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0/USB 1.1 interfaces.
Fortunately, this LaCie USB 3.0 SSD is also compatible with MAC OS. It is available in 30GB, 60GB and 120GB capacities for price of $149.99, $249.99 and $474.99 respectively.
