Eyetracker May Help Reduce Road Accidents Due to Driver’s Drowniness
After long hours of shift work most of the drivers feel drowsy which some of the times result in road accidents. Eyetracker is a piece of instrument consisting of cameras that continuously monitor eyes of the drivers and if the eyes are closed for a more than normal amount of time then the Eyetracker rings an alarm alerting the driver and theoretically would result in less amount of road accidents due to driver drowsiness.
Eyetracker is developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology in Germany. The best part about the Eyetracker is that it can be installed in any type and model of a vehicle. It consists of an array of cameras that continuously monitor driver’s eyes and it automatically takes up to 200 images every second to determine drivers line of sight. Eyetracker is nearly undetected by the driver as each of the camera lens is only a few millimeters in diameter. We might see Eyetracker in action very soon.
