Solar Impulse 2 : First Solar Fright Successfully Completed

The photo you see above is of a solar plan by the name Solar Impulse 2 and it is a Swiss made solar powered aircraft weighing 2.3 tons and equipped with thousands of solar cells.

The Solar Impulse 2 has officially and successfully completed its maiden solar flight which took approximately 2 hrs and 17 minutes. During its first flight, it went as high as 6,000 feet.

According to the source, the Solar impulse 2 aircraft is equipped with 17,000 solar cells that continuously power and keep the propeller rotating.

The team behind this solar powered aircraft strongly believe that in future we will be able to use the same technology in commercial passenger planes and reduce liquid fuel consumption.
