We are now witnessing a solar-powered Android phone, the Umeox Apollo, currently displayed at MWC 2011. It is a Chinese made Android phone featuring a 3.2 inch touch screen with 320×480 resolution. What’s interesting about this phone is that it has a solar panel at its rear side so if you travel a lot or spend most of your time in the outdoors then this might be the phone for you if you can sacrifice some of the advanced features such as Wi-Fi, GPS, etc. The solar panel will take about 17 hours to fully charge a complete dead battery. This works in both natural and indoor lights. Some of the other features of the Solar powered Android Phone, Umeox Apollo, are discussed below.
The Umeox Apollo Solar powered Android phone has 1GB of internal memory which can be increased via its microSD card slot. It has FM radio, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, 3.5mm audio jack etc. The Umeox Apollo Soar Android phone also has a handy 3 mega pixel rear facing camera. According to the manufacturer, the Umeox Apollo will be a released in two versions; one for USA/Canada and the other for Europe and Asian nations. Both the versions will be dual-band GSM phones.
