The SpareOne Emergency Phone is one of a kind GSM cell phone that runs on a single AA battery and as the company behind it claims that it can run up to 15 years on a single AA battery if you use the Energizer Ultimate Lithium L91 battery. Furthermore, the SpareOne emergency phone accepts regular size GSM SIM cards and also comes with microSIM adopter. It is expected to have a talk time of up to 10 hours. The phone has no display and when you press a key you hear a beep which confirms that your dialed number is registered by the SpareOne Phone.
The SpareOne Emergency phone is designed to make emergency calls without a SIM card so in case of extended power breakdown, you can pop in a single AA battery and make a call if required or in the outdoors when your regular cell phone battery is dead, you can make use of the SpareOne phone. It is also a nice idea to keep an actual phonebook along with it in case you do not remember any numbers which most of us don’t.
The SpareOne Emergency phone is available for about $70 and has specific models for American (850/1900 MHz) and European (900/1800 MHz) GSM frequencies.
