Seagate just introduced its second generation of hybrid hard drive Momentus XT 750GB. Segate promises that it assures SSD-like performance and boosts your system with faster performace. The new Seagate hybrid hard drive is based on Serial ATA 6Gb/second interface and powered by Seagate’s Adaptive Memory and FAST Factor technologies.
The updated version of Seagate’s Adaptive Memory technology implements self-learning algorithm to access data just like SSD. This technology works by identifying the data usage pattern, and then moves the most frequently retrieved information to solid state memory for faster access.
The Momentus XT drive is made compatible with a wide range of desktops and notebooks as its motor speed specifies up to 7200rpm. The drive has assigned a capacity of 750 GB which is on the optical media while its 8 GB resides on single-level cell (SLC) NAND flash cache.
Seagate claimed that the new Momentus Xt 750 GB Hybrid Hard Drive is made 70% faster than the previous generation hybrid drives and up to three times faster than a traditional hard disk drive. The drive is available at Seagate stores at price of $245.
