iRiver has just revealed another set of portable multimedia players, the iRiver U100, which is a portable multimedia player with a touch screen interface. Although this by no means is as compact and mini as the iPod Nano touch player but it offers a lot more to Korean users. The iRiver U100 portable media player has a 3.1 inch touchscreen with resolution of 320×480 and it comes in various attractive colors. Its hardware also supports playback of 720p high definition video but with a low resolution supported by the display and no option to hook it to a bigger display, we are unable to find the reason why they added HD video playback feature.
Other interesting features of the iRiver U100 portable media player include Wi-Fi connectivity and a microSD card slot for adding more memory to the existing 4GB/8GB/16GB internal memory (depending upon which version you buy). The iRiver U100 is claimed to have a remarkable battery life which stretched up to 50 hours for continuous audio playback and up to 11 hours for video playback.
The iRiver U100 portable media player supports most of the media formats and is currently available in the Korean market. We did not find any info regarding its price and whether it will be made available in the US or not.
