Toshiba has just announced its new line of portable hard drives, the Toshiba Canvio USB 3.0 hard drives. These are up to 10 times faster than conventional USB 2.0 hard drives. The Toshiba Canvio 3 will have a huge impact on portable hard drive market as it is being offered for almost the same price that USB 2.0 portable drives are sold at which means consumers will be able to acquire same size drives with same price at a 10 times faster data rate.

The Toshiba Canvio USB 3.0 portable hard drives are compact in design and about 25 percent smaller than USB 2.0 hard drives. The data rates can go as high as 5 Gb/s. The Toshiba Canvio drives are available in 500GB, 750GB and 1TB sizes and are backed with 3-year limited warranty. The drives are assembled in China where as manufacturing takes place in Japan and few other countries.
The Toshiba Canvio USB 3.0 hard drives can weigh up to 180 g depending upon which size you chose. Like other USB hard drives, the Toshiba Canvio comes pre-loaded with backup software.
