Hitachi new hard drive, the Ultrastar C10K600 is claimed to be the fastest hard drive with 10,000 rpm and the largest 64MB data buffer. The new Hitachi hard drive is power efficient as it consumes up to 22% less power when in use. Due to its high speed, the Hitachi 10,000 rpm hard drive is best suited for servers, network storage arrays, gaming PCs, cloud computing etc.
The Hitachi Ultrastar C10K600 hard drive comes in 600GB, 450GB and 300GB versions. With 10,000 rpm of rotational speed, the drive maintains an average latency of 3 ms and a seek time of 3.7 ms. The Hitachi new hard drive consumes only 5.6 Watts of electrical power when in use and up to 3.1 Watts when idle. The hard drive has a maximum weight of 204 g and it measures 14.8mm in height, 70mm in width and 100.6mm in depth. Hitachi Ultrastar C10K600 operating temperature is 5 ºC to 55 ºC. Other feature worth mentioning is that the Hitachi hard drive has a SAS 6Gbps interface which also plays a vital role in the performance of Hitachi Ultrastar C10K600 hard drive.
