Hitachi has just announced an Enterprise HDD, the Hitachi Ultrastar 7K4000 which will be made available in 2TB, 3TB and 4TB capacities. The new Hitachi Ultrastar 7K4000 Enterprise HDD will be available in 3.5 inch size for desktop computers and will be having a 64MB cache memory along with 7200 RPM and SATA 6.0 Gbps interface. According to Hitachi, the Ultrastar 7K4000 Enterprise HDD supports data transfer speeds up to 171MB/s and has 2 million hours of MTBF.
Unfortunately there is no official word on price and release date of the new Hitachi Ultrastar 7K4000 Enterprise HDD so stay tuned for updates.
