Today Acer announced that its new Chrome OS computer, the Acer AC700 Chromebook, Acer’s first Chrome OS netbook is just about ready to see the light of the day. According to the press release, the Acer AC700 Chromebook is about to be released in U.S. for $349.99 only while its 3G version will also be made available by the end of this summer. The Acer Chromebook is powered by a dual-core Intel Atom N570 processor and has 2GB of DDR3 RAM. It is also equipped with a 16GB SSD which will be used for storing millions of Chrome apps as well as games. Keep in mind that Chrome OS as well as Chromebooks are designed for quick access to cloud services. Other features of the new Acer AC700 Chromebook includes two USB 2.0 ports, memory card reader, webcam, 11.6-inch HD widescreen display, HDMI-out etc.

  1. During a December Chrome and Chrome OS event Google identified both Acer and Samsung as the initial Chrome OS hardware partners.. But since the entire Chrome OS commercial release was delayed in favor of a pilot programs that allowed for more testing of the platform Acer was forced to take a backseat at the time..
