7-inch BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet Unveiled

So the rumors were true as indicated by Mike Lazardis, CEO of RIM. Mark announced about the 7-inch BlackBerry tablet called the BlackBerry PlayBook, in annual BlackBerry Developer Conference. The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet runs the new BlackBerry Tablet OS which is created by ONX.

The 7-inch BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is powered by Cortex A9-based 1GHz dual-core processor along with 1GB of RAM. The display measures 7-inch (diagonal) and supports a maximum resolution of 1024 x 600. The display is capacitive LCD touch screen supporting full multi-touch gestures. The BlackBerry PlayBook has very handy dual HD cameras, 3 mega pixel front facing camera and 5 mega pixel rear facing camera.

Other features in the BlackBerry PlayBook include microUSB port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, microHDMI port, integrated stereo speakers etc. The 7-inch BlackBerry tablet measures 5.1 x 7.6 x 0.4 inches and weighs just under 1lb. The BlackBerry PlayBook will be made available in U.S. in the 1st quarter of 2011 and to the rest of the world in 2nd quarter. No information on price of the new BlackBerry tablet was found at the time of writing.
